July 7 - Croton on Hudson

We spent the entire day at the Half Moon Bay Marina in Croton on Hudson. Since it was again very, very hot, we decided to spend most of the day in the air-conditioned comfort of our boat. We did meet a few other loopers, including a couple from Sutton Bay. They had purchased a boat in Annapolis and are now bringing it back to Michigan.

As some of you may have heard, sections of the Erie Canal are closed due to lock damage sustained as result of much rain in this area. A small section will reopen today, but the section from lock 11 to 17 remains closed until further notice. In view of this, along with other reports, we have decided to again travel northward via Lake Champlain to the St. Lawrence Seaway. This is what we also had to do 7 years ago.

On Monday we will make a stop at Petersen's Marina, near the Tappan Zee Bridge, to have a few items taken care of. If possible, I would also like them to take down our mast. It is the only way we can fit under a railroad bridge which does not open. Tomorrow I hope to have our new boating schedule.
