We had a very easy day - just one lock and pleasant weather. We eased into Lake Champlain, saw Fort Ticonderoga and the remains of the early French Fort St. Frederick, built in 1731, and a later British fort, Fort Amherst built in 1759. Vistas of the mountains were fabulous. Around 4:30 p.m. we arrived in Burlington, VT. We contacted a number of marinas for a slip, but we struck out. Instead we headed over to Shelburne Bay where we dropped our anchor. There were many other boaters who also dropped anchor is the very nice cove off the Shelburne Bay.
